WELCOME TO THE WORLD: Congratulations to Claire and Justyn McCann on the arrival of their first born, a son Oliver James. Oliver was born in Forbes Hospital on August 03, weighing in at 8lbs.10oz.

Delighted first time grandparents are Jan and Anthony Myers and eleventh time grandparents Jo and John McCann all of Grenfell.

Gina Myers-Brown first time aunty and her husband Lance were over-whelmed with the news as was first time uncle Sam Myers.

What do you bring your grandchild back from Thredbo? A snowman of course!  

INTERSCHOOL VISIT: Former Grenfellite, Claire Frazer from St Gregory’s School in Queanbeyan returned home for an interschool visit to St Joseph’s School last week.

Claire, daughter of Rod and Ruth Frazer who now live in Canberra enjoyed her short stay in Grenfell. Claire did her prac teaching some years ago at St Joseph’s when the late Patrick Mockler was principal. No doubt Claire has seen many changes to school since her prac teaching days.

VISITING HOME: Home visiting the family farm over the weekend was locally raised actor, Sean Barker and his girlfriend Daryl Hiebert. In the coming weeks, Sean will be working on the forthcoming ABC telemovie, Riot. The couple will leave their home in Bronte later this month for a five month adventure in Canada and the Americas which will include Thanksgiving and Christmas with Daryl's family in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Sean is the son of Britt and Zel Barker of "Cambewarra."

JUNIOR LEAGUE: Following the final home game of Junior League, players and family enjoyed a BBQ at the Grenfell Country Club.

During the evening long time supporters and sponsors Lyle Walker (Grenfell Quality Meats) and Terry and Deidre Carroll (Terry Carroll Motors) were each presented with a gift of a “Lifelong Sponsors T Shirt”

Krystal Hucker was announced Player of the Round in the game against West Wyalong in the Senior League Tag and Taylor King was the lucky winner in the meat draw.

DAFFODIL DAY: On Friday August 25, the children and teachers/carers at the Grenfell Preschool and Long Day Care Centre celebrated Daffodil Day.

In keeping with the theme for day, many children were dressed in yellow or wore a yellow ribbon.

GRENFELL SHOW: Grenfell’s Annual show will be held today and tomorrow. Tonight will feature the outstanding fireworks. Please remember to make sure your dogs are contained whilst the fireworks are on.

This morning the Dog Show commences at 9am, the judging of exhibits commence at 9.30am  and the pavilion will open to the public at 1pm. Tractor Pull practice will start at 3pm. From 6pm there will be entertainment at the Red Shed plus a Tug O’ War and the fireworks display will commence after dark.

Saturday there will be something for everyone, livestock, ring events, yard dogs, car show, vintage engines, tractor pull, Grenfell Public School Marimba Band plus sideshows, food outlets and exhibits in both the Simpson and Grandstand pavilions.

Entries close at 11am for the Junior Showgirl and Stockman at the President’s Room followed by judging at 11.30am. Announcement of Miss Showgirl 2017 and Junior Miss Showgirl and Stockman will take place following the Official Opening at 2pm.

WHITE RIBBON DAY:  a reminder that White Ribbon Day will be held September 15 from 11.30am -1.30pm in the auditorium at The Henry Lawson High School, Grenfell. RSVP by Monday September 04 - contact Grenfell Community Health on 6349 1777.

Special Guest speaker is Angela Barker with her parents Helen and Ian.

Cost: $20.00 per person (numbers strictly limited) cost includes BBQ Sausage sizzle lunch, tea/coffee. The Grenfell Lions Club will assist on the day cooking the BBQ.
