Whilst in town they enjoyed a night out to dinner at Fettlers.
Justyn’s wife Susan ‘the constant tourist’ was unavailable for dinner as she was in the South of France with the family celebrating their daughter Sarah’s 40th birthday.
AN EVENING WITH ROGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN: Nevin and Verona Hughes travelled to Armidale to see their daughter Tracey Hughes-Butters perform with the Armidale Symphony Orchestra and Armidale Drama & Musical Society’s production of “An Evening with Rogers and Hammerstein” on August 12 and 13.
The production held at the University had 100 voices in the choir and fifty musicians in the orchestra. On Saturday an audience of over 200 and Sunday over 500 was in attendance at the outstanding show.
Tracey performed a solo with the orchestra singing “June is Bustin’ Out All Over” from Carousel as well as being in the chorus. Tracey’s husband Col Butters assisted with the sound.
Other songs were performed from Sound of Music, The King and I, South Pacific and State Fair.
HAPPY BIRTHDAYS: Brayden Hucker celebrated his 13th birthday last Saturday evening with family and friends at the Junior Rugby League Club's final home game barbecue.
Wishing Brayden a very happy birthday were his ‘footy’ friends Billy Reid, Ben Hurst-Strange, Zach Clarke, Blaine Paterson, Tyler Bryron and Marc O'Loughlin.
David Armstrong celebrated his 30 something birthday on August 16 at Fettlers Restaurant. His parents Jenny and Ian, his grandmother Joan McSpadden and his Aunty Tracie and her husband Glen Ivans were there for the celebrations.
7OTH BIRTHDAY: Biruta Swain celebrated her 70th birthday on Saturday, August 19, with family and friends in Grenfell. The party was a fancy dress themed event with all guests dressing up in fun costumes.
Biruta was a lioness. During the evening guests enjoyed a photo timeline of Biruta's past as well as a wishing well and music by 'Awesome Duo' plus a delicious feast and cupcake birthday cake. Friends and family continued their celebrations well into the night.
Grenfell Show September 1-2: Residents are invited to become a member of the Grenfell PAH & I Association. Full membership entitles you to two admission tickets allowing you to enter the showground as many times as you wish over the two days and admission for children under 17 if accompanied by a parent. Family memberships is $30, single adult $15, under 17 $10 and children under 5 years are free. Aged pensioner $5 All other pensioners $10.
By becoming a member, you also go in the draw for a flight with Orange Helicopters.
If you are not a member charges are $20 Adult and children under 17 $10 children under 5 are free. Aged pensioners are $5 and other pensioners are $10. (Pass outs are available each day).
