Congratulations to Blake Bradtke and Andrew Armstrong, who are the Lachlan Valley Pairs Champion of Champions for 2017. Blake and Andrew took out the the title on Sunday after defeating Canowindra team Peter Taylor and Roger Traves 22-15 in the final at Canowindra.

The pair’s next challenge will be the Zone 4 Pairs Champion of Champions, to be played at the Majellan club at Bathurst. Best of luck boys! Meanwhile, Steve Galvin failed in his bid for the Champion of Champions Singles crown being defeated 31-14 by Cowra’s Gerard Beath in the final at Cowra.

Social Bowls: A good roll-up this week with 40 bowlers battling the strong winds. On Wednesday, Ray Walter, Max Barr and John Joyce won chooks and Lindsay Ballard won the free game. Greg Fanning, George Dumbrell and Lindsay Ballard were Friday’s chook winners, the free game went to Rodney O’Neill. On Sunday chooks were won by Greg Fanning and Barry Butler, Lindsay Ballard won the free game. 

Major/Minor Pairs: The first match of this year’s comp was played on Saturday with a convincing first round win for Ray Walter and Martin Betcher, when father and son duo, Ross and Myles Hunter, conceded defeat after 18 ends with the score at 36-13. Matches can be played at any time by mutual arrangement. 

Woodstock tournament: Woodstock club’s three bowl pairs tournament is Sunday, August 6, and is open to men’s, women’s or mixed teams. Two games of 18 ends will be contested and play starts at 10.30am. Entry is $40 per team and prize money is on offer. Dress is mufti and nominations close this Friday. The first 14 teams nominated will be accepted. For details phone 6345-0307.

Jackpot: There were no winners this week, a score of -8 on end 8, on an even rink being required. The jackpot is now at $422.
