The call comes as the 2017 NSW Australians of the Year complete a three-day ‘Tour of Honour’ to Broken Hill and Menindee in the State’s far west.
“We have a long, inspiring list of past NSW Australians of the Year.
“Some of the most extraordinary people, those who make a vital difference to people’s lives each and every day, live right next door,” Mr Barilaro said.
“It is now time to ‘be great and nominate’ for the 2018 awards, so another four amazing individuals and the tremendous contribution they make to NSW can be celebrated.”
NSW Young Australian of the Year Arthur Alla echoed the Deputy Premier’s call.
“Being the NSW Young Australian of the Year has been a genuine privilege as it has allowed me to meet some of the most interesting, dedicated and caring members of our community,” Mr Alla said.
“I urge everyone to nominate someone who has helped make their community a better place.
“This recognition will help inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”
Those selected for the State’s honours become eligible for the national Australian of the Year awards, announced each year on Australia Day.
