Southern New South Wales grain growers will be offered insights into how they can manage the pasture phase of a mixed farming enterprise to maximise benefits for following crops as part of the Grains Research Development Corporation (GRDC) Updates in Grenfell in August. The annual one-day update is being held at the Grenfell Bowling Club on August 3.

One of the key presenters at the Update will be Tim Condon from Delta Ag who will offer growers and their consultants some guidelines to ensure better management of the pasture phase to optimise delivery of benefits to the subsequent cropping phase.
While Tony Swan from CSIRO will present the latest research from a stubble management initiative on the Southwest slopes, which has produced guidelines for growers keen to retain stubble in a profitable farming system.
Siobhan de Little from cesar will offer practical tips for living with Russian Wheat Aphids, including spray thresholds, integrated pest management tactics and other control options. Other topics on the Update’s agenda include: the latest on herbicide resistance and emerging weed problems and a Blackleg disease update.
GRDC Senior Regional Manager North Jan Edwards said the annual Updates were designed to provide growers with practical, relevant information in response to ongoing and emerging on-farm challenges.
