Round 7 of the Men’s Winter Night Tennis Competition was played on Tuesday night in chilly conditions. Grant Fisher and Leigh Taylor came out on top with the good score of 26 games. Two of their sets finished at 4 all, while they won the other three sets in fine style, 6/2, 7/1, 5/3.

Two pairs finished the round winning a total of 20 games. They were Grahame Edwards and Rod Freudenstein and Hugh Moffitt and Matthew Clarke who was a fill-in for Mark Liebich.
Grahame and Rod had some very close results with three of the sets 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, while the other two sets were 5/3, 3/5. Hugh and Matthew also had some very close results. Two of their sets were 4/4, 4/4. while the other three sets were 2/6, 5/3, 5/3.
Charles Harvey and John Walmsley also experienced very close tennis when four of their sets were 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, 4/4. The other sets played they lost 3/5, great tennis for the two men. Stuart McKellar and Pat Hazell battled away in their tennis to also record three 4 alls.
They closely lost the other two sets 3/5 to give them a total of 18 games for the round. Danny Joyce and Arnold Brown managed to win a total of 17 games. Their sets were 4/4, 4/4, 1/7, 3/5, 5/3.
It was a very close night of tennis for the men with eight sets levelled at 4 all. No doubt we will see future rounds of much the same results. Round 8 will be played next Tuesday night, weather permitting.
Just a handful of players turned up for a game at social tennis on Thursday, July 13. Any tennis player looking for a hit, will be made most welcome. Turn up at around 1.30 pm.
