The boys started the game with a lack of communication as well as a lack of possession, with Cambridge scoring first, despite Grenfell’s hard work in defence. However, not long after the Stingers put together some nice attacking play which led to Hamish Starr finding the back of the net.
The Saints fired back with two goals in quick succession making the half time scoreboard 3-1.
The Stingers came back after a positive pep-talk from Benny to boost their confidence which saw them start the second half with better communication and more possession.
Grenfell’s back-line was upsetting the Saints attacking players forcing corners and throw-ins but even when the Saints managed to get a shot at goal our Goalie Eddie Galea came up with a magnificent save.
The Stingers mid-fielders made some great attacking opportunities for their strikers to capitalise on but it seemed as though the Saints had their whole team in the back line, which proved to much for Grenfell’s attacking players.
After the final whistle sounded the Stingers were proud of themselves for managing to keep the Saints scoreless in the second half and are now looking forward to having the week off. Thanks to all the players, supporters and sponsors.
