Wins are not easy to come by at Trundle but the Goannas caused the upset of the round by defeating the highly fancied Boomers 42 to 40 on Sunday June 4.
Youngster Mitch Stevens opened the scoring after Stevie Ingram drew in three defenders to send Mitch on a 40 metre run to the corner.
With the Goannas pack making big inroads, damaging backrower Sam Ingram had a field day running in a hat trick of tries for Grenfell to lead 22 nil.
An error by the Goannas at the 25th minute mark allowed Trundle to score back to back tries before Steve Taylor crashed his way over for Grenfell.
With Phil Ingram's 3 conversion the Goannas went to the break with a 26/10 lead.
The opening 25 minutes in the second half turned into a real arm wrestle with both teams trading tries.
The Boomers got on the board first before Amenayasi Aditagane barged his way over the line.
Sebastian Holz finished off a great backline movement to score out wide, whilst Brendan Hewen showed great awareness to catch Trundle napping on the short side.
Mitch Stevens sideline conversions saw Grenfell leading 42/22.
With a glut of possession in the final 15 minutes and the Goannas guilty of turning over cheap ball from silly errors and penalties saw the Boomers come storming home.
With a converted try in the 38th minute to reduce the gap to 2, the Goannas held the fast finishing Trundle out to record a 42/40 victory and move into 4th position on the ladder.
In a great team effort Sam Ingram picked up Players Player with Brendan Hewen, Ben Abbott and Shannon Lee not far behind.
This Sunday June 18 Grenfell travel to Eugowra to take on the Eagles.
League Tag gets underway at 12.40 pm, with the Goannas to kickoff at 2.00pm.
