Chair of the Board along with executive officers and board members held their May meeting in Grenfell this week with one of the main subjects of discussion being the Inland Rail project.
“We have spoken with Peter Mawhinney from Grenfell Commodities to discuss how the proposed Inland Rail project will benefit businesses like his and he was very open to discussion,” said Peter McMillan RDA CW Executive Officer.
Inland Rail is the proposed 1,700 km freight rail connection between Melbourne to Brisbane which travels via regional Victoria, NSW and Queensland. In one of the biggest investments ever seen in regional Australia, the Federal Government has committed $8.4 billion to fund the construction of the Inland Rail, commencing this year.
“It was also great to meet with Weddin Shire Mayor Mark Liebick and General Manager Glenn Carroll to discuss current and future priorities for the local community, particularly the proposed new medical hub”. said Mr McMillan.
The main objective for RDA Central West is to seek out opportunities for regional communities to continue to make progress in a variety of sectors including Inland Rail, Mobile Black Spots, NBN, Telecom Infrastructure, Hub Technology, Freight and more.
