They used geo-shapes to create their models and they then had to explain which materials would be appropriate for their designs, in order to keep the users safe.
This project encouraged the use of mathematical language, helped students relate two and three dimensional shapes and helped them to recognise real life applications for mathematical knowledge.
The discovery of voice typing as part of the tools in Google docs on the new Chrome books, made the second round of publishing in Year 2/3 quite an adventure.
Some students were very excited about the ease of dictating, rather than having to type each word.
Other students did discover that there can be challenges when using this technology tool.
It does not cope well with stories with unusual words or lots of sound effects.
It is also very important to speak clearly or it changes your words into what it thinks it has heard.
Some students decided that this new technology was actually less effective for their purpose than typing it themselves!
This term, the students have been learning about how to structure an information report.
Each student has chosen a topic to write about and all of the students are in the research and resource gathering stage as they prepare for the next round of publishing.
In Religious Education this term, the Year 2/3 students will be exploring and reflecting on the different images of God revealed through Scripture.
This week, they were introduced to the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
As the students view and analyse different images, they will develop their own image of God that has personal meaning and relevance for them.
Our athletics carnival was held last Friday and was a fun day for all.
There were a number of very close finishes in our running events, and some records are in danger of falling.
Thank you to staff at THLHS and all of our parents and friends to helped out on the day.
A reminder to members of the community that the school P&F meet at 7.30pm on the third Tuesday of each month, contact 02 6343 1514 for details.
