On Sunday, April 30, the first round of Western Youth League soccer tournament took place, followed by round 2 in Wellington on May 5. The Lachlan Lions teams consist of players from Cowra, Grenfell, Canowindra and Young and have two sides – the under 12s girls and under 14s girls.

Well done to Grenfell girls Annabella Taylor, Hayley Taylor, Emily Brenner and Amber Taylor who who were selected to be part of the under 12s team and are enjoying their soccer at a district level.
During round 1 Talieka Burns laid on about five goals throughout the day for her team mates, Mackenzie Crook controlled the games from the midfield and when your keeper hardly touches the ball it shows how strong your back four are - Dekota Hindmarsh, Emma Wood, Annabella Taylor and Hayley Taylor.
The Lachlan Lions are undefeated at this stage with only one round to go in Cowra on Sunday May 21.
