The game began at a very fast pace and it wasn’t long before the Stingers got their first shot at goal, without success. It seemed as though the match was going from one end of the field to the other without any points being scored by either team, however, West Wyalong soon found their form with a lucky shot from way out wide which snuck by Benny in the goals, it wasn’t long before they managed another and then just before half time they were awarded a corner kick that sailed past a confusion of players and into the nets for West Wyalong’s third goal of the match.
The second half began much the same as the first with plenty of fast paced action allowing many of the Stingers younger players to come into their element, missing a few defensive players the Stingers managed to keep their opponents scoreless throughout the second half with the final score being 3-0 to West Wyalong. Even with the loss it was a great first game and we are all looking forward to the season ahead. Hamish and Frazer were awarded Man of the Match but everbody played a great game, we should all be proud of ourselves. A big thanks to the Royal Hotel for their sponsorship.
Our next game will be held this Sunday, April 30, and it would be great to see some more parents and fans come along to support the team.
