The 2017 Mixed Teams Tennis Competition has commenced with seven teams taking part. The seven teams means that each round a team has a bye.

Round 1 of the competition was played on Wednesday night, February 15 in ideal conditions. Bogalong and Beyond, defeated The Lone Rangers 44 games to 20. Team members of Bogalong and Beyond are David Mitton, Michael Mitton, Sally Mitton and Esma Baker- quite a family affair.
Rob’s Rascals also scored a comfortable win when they defeated The Eppo’s 40 games to 24. Rob’s Rascals team consists of Rob Anderson, Jaykob Gavin, Ali Anderson and Breanna Anderson.
The other match played was between Rollsies Rabble and Odds and Sods. Rollsies Rabble were the winners of this match winning 36 games to 28. Members of the winning team are Arnold brown, David Troy, Lyndell Rolls and Temeika Rolls. The team, Coppsies Floppsies had the bye. Round 2 of the Mixed Comp was played on Wednesday night and results will be available next week.
Edwards and Bucknell in great form: Grahame Edwards and Andrew Bucknell were in great form in Round 4 of the Men’s No 2 Division of their Summer Competition on Tuesday night. Grahame and Andrew won all their sets to win a total of 32 games for the night. A big effort by both men. Their sets were 7/1, 5/3, 8/0, 5/3, 7/1. Charles Harvey and Murray Mitton also had a good round to win 29 games They won their first set 7/1, however after a close set against the top pair in which they went down 3/5, went back on the court to win 7/1, 5/3, 7/1.
Hugh Moffitt and Pat Hazell battled away in their sets to win a total of 20 games. Their sets were 4/4, 5/3, 1/7, 3/5, 7/1. Winning 19 games for the night were Anthony Wilson and Rick Power and their sets were 4/4, 6/2, 5/3, 3/5, 1/7. Mark Liebich and John Walmsley plugged away in their sets to win 15 games. Results were 1/7, 3/5, 3/5, 7/1, 1/7. The other pair taking part, Arnold Brown and his fill-in for Jim Griffith, Ross Cartwright had little luck in their sets. Round 5 of the Men’s Summer Competition will be played next Tuesday night, February 28.

Dates to keep in mind are – Annual Meeting of the Tennis Centre to be held at the Grenfell Country Club next Monday night, February 27 commencing at 6 pm. A good roll up for the meeting will be greatly appreciated.
