Last month I had the honour of meeting eleven students from the University of Technology from Sydney who are studying in the field of robotics.
They were all born in Australia with their parents having backgrounds in China, Korea and Australia and were all wonderful ambassadors for their University.
The information they provided was straight from the horses mouth and one of the group has now been invited to attend a premium University in the United States to further his studies
He informed us that he is very close to commanding the movements of his robots purely by commands and thoughts from his brain without any voice or radio connection.
It was exciting to talk to such gifted young people and at the same time to look sadly at the declining levels of science in Australia generally.
Whoever decided to not have maths and science as compulsory subjects in the recent past have certainly sowed the seeds of low performance in our future graduates.
