There is much to celebrate this year.
2017 will see the 60th consecutive running of the Henry Lawson Festival.
Grenfell’s is the longest running Festival of Arts in NSW.
It is also the 150th anniversary of the birth of Henry Lawson.
Our theme has to be Happy Birthday.
Let’s celebrate together.
The Festival Committee has been planning an event with a difference to start off the 60th year celebrations.
On Saturday, February 4 there will be a Twilight Ball to be held in Taylor Park.
The Ball will introduce some of the 2017 Queen/King candidates.
There will be two bands performing during the ball, providing the delightful Jazz strains of Shiraz and then great dance themes by The Kool.
The music will go until midnight.
Mogga’s Party Hire has generously helped with the dance floor.
There will be gourmet catering served throughout the evening.
The enthusiastic Ball Committee have worked hard to gain all the approvals required to hold this Twilight Ball in the beautiful Taylor Park.
Imagine dancing under the stars by the glow of fairy lights, dressed in ball gowns and bling.
See the men in their best!
The Ball is for over 18 only because of liquor licencing. Proof of age is required at the gate with your ticket.
There is a cash only bar available.
Tickets are $65.00 and need to be purchased before the date for catering purposes.
Tickets are on sale at Maria’s Grenfell Shoes and at Jan’s Louisa’s Locker.
There are only limited tickets because of licencing and catering, so don’t miss out.
As always, our service groups are calling out for new members.
This is also true of the Festival.
It is wonderful to see the 2016 Festival and Charity Queens work so hard to make this Ball a success.
The future of the Festival, and Grenfell, is in safe hands with such wonderful young people prepared to support this community.
I invite you to come along to the next Festival meeting in February.
We are always in need of willing workers.
The festival kicks off on the Thursday evening with a special event at the Grenfell Art Gallery, and from there, through to the Monday a wide array of exhibitions, events and entertainment will be on show for all tastes and ages.
Art and photography exhibitions, short story and verse competitions, a colourful street procession, are just a few of the wonderful events taking place over the festival weekend.
