This photo taken in 1951 is of Grenfell teens Peter O'Brien and Maurice Simpson.
Maurice is perched upon his beloved Ariel 500cc Red Hunter motorcycle.
Maurice was a keen racer of this motorcycle around town and claims that no-one ever beat his Red Hunter "It was the fastest bike in Grenfell at one time and no-one ever came close to beating it" says Maurice.
Maurice once raced a 650cc Thunderbird and he 'beat it by a mile'.
SURPRISE:
Lindsay Mason, who thought he was going fishing on Saturday November 19, was certainly suprised when he turned up at his daughter Kylie and son in law Karni Hettiarachchi’s home in Cootamundra to find a 70th birthday party was in store for him.
Around 35 people were present for the celebrations, including his wife Lorraine their son Peter and his wife Mandy, their twin daughters Serenity and Trinity, Judy’s sisters and brother; Lois, Judy and Sue and David “Shorty” Shaw from Queensland.
Peter and Sylvia Butcher and Liz and Peter Lotherington made the trip from Grenfell.
A small fish tank was set up and a rod was on hand for Lindsay to actually ‘go fishing’.
60TH BIRTHDAY:
On November 11 Kevin Brown’s family organised a 60th surprise birthday for him.
Helping Kevin (who indeed was very surprised) celebrate were his mates from school and family members.
Kim, Trish and Bryce would like to thank Carol and Lyn for all their hard work, the beautiful cooking and thanks to John and Laurel in the bar.
Kevin also extends his thanks to all who attended and made it a successful and a night to be remembered.
MORE BIRTHDAYS:
Sylvia Butcher celebrated her birthday on Monday November 28 with dinner with family and friends at the Railway Hotel.
As well as her husband Peter, daughter Marlisa and her husband Cameron York and their children Matilda and Braiden, Peter’s sister Mary Furmen-Luck from Townsville and good friends Kay and Rod McLelland were in attendance.
Mary also celebrated her birthday which was a few days later.
Robyn Munck celebrated her birthday with friends Karen Loader, Pat Hewen and Dot Fitzpatrick at Fettlers on November 26.
Happy birthday girls.
