BIG WIN: Kevin Brown and friend Rocco Maio celebrated his winning bet after Donald Trump claimed victory in the US Presidential race.

Hobart’s Kevin Brown has won more than $20,000 after a series of bets on Donald Trump dating back to October 2015.

What he said became an obsession, netted a tidy cash victory while many punters remained shocked - with Clinton around $1.20 on election day and Trump at $4.50 to $5.

“I’ve been saying that I thought he was going to win for months and I think I have literally driven my friends and family up the wall,” he said.

“They all have been looking at me like I am a total idiot for the last year and two months, so I am in the process of conducting an I-told-you-so world tour at the moment.”

As a small-business owner in Hobart, American politics was not usually something that would interest Mr Brown but he fell into the passion of the election.

He said a small bet on the primaries led him to reinvest and he was left with yesterday’s winning result.

“I was looking at the polling and thinking that things were being missed in the polling… the stuff that they weren’t showing properly in the news headlines, and i thought I had this incredible piece of information,” he said.

“I basically just backed myself, and thought I can’t not do it and be sitting there on election day and wishing I had put some money on it.”

To make the day even sweeter, Mr Brown celebrated his 29th birthday with friends and family last night.
