Some great advice on researching Family history

Interest in family history research has dropped over the last few years (at least as far as library resources go) but there are now four new books and a CD ROM  on the New Materials table this week which may be useful to those soldiering on. By the way, Agnes Besant is available for assistance if you wish to research family history but don’t know how to start, the library can arrange an appointment. TROVE, the National Library’s database of Australian resources, is a goldmine for many enquirers, but it is a great resource for family historians. “TROVE: discover genealogy treasure in the National Library of Australia” is a good introduction to TROVE from a family history research perspective but also points out other genealogy resources at the NLA. The CD ROM has data on pubs and publicans in NSW in the period 1860-1900. Once you have finished researching “Writing and Publishing Gripping Family Histories” by Carol Baxter will help you take that next step of presenting your findings to the world.
