A fine but cool day greeted a huge group of 97 golfers from across the state for the first round of the NSW Golf Sand/Grass Championships at Grenfell last Saturday morning. A good hearty brekky started the day before the large contingent of golfers headed to the greens to contest.

A lot of stories were talked about on the Saturday following a successful days play at Grenfell. Competitors were then off to Forbes on Sunday for the conclusion of the Championships. The second round went well at Forbes and golfers throughout NSW are now looking towards a 2017 Sand/Grass competition.
36 Holes Scratch winner was J Betland with 71 gross pts.
36 Holes Nett winner was P Friend on 83 pts. Team even won by Forbes Golf Club 186 pts.
36 Holes Scratch Womens – R Orr on 41 gross pts. 36 Holes Nett Womens went to Maria Neill of Grenfell with 73 pts. Val Forsyth of Grenfell won 18 Holes Stableford R/Up on Saturday at 28 pts with Virginia Drogemuller, also of Grenfell, winning 18 Holes Stableford on Sunday 31 pts.
Sunday AM Social Bottom 9 Holes: Winner for today was J Harris on 30 nett with G Mac 36 nett R/Up. J Harris won the putting competition with G Simpson winning the L/Drive competition. No NTP recorded.
COMING EVENTS: Saturday, August 27 – Medal Loaders Trophy – Stableford. Sunday, August 28 – Stableford – Peak Hill Open.
