Grenfell Panthers Rugby Union

Last week, the Panthers played Blayney Rams in Carcoar. Unfortunately, the Panthers, unable to find rhythm were defeated 50-7. Grenfell had a young side who would have learned a few lessons from the leading team in the comp. In the opening 15 minutes, Blayney scored and set the scene. This didn’t intimidate the Panthers, with Henry Mitton putting on some big shots around the ruck and Ant Dixon stealing plenty of ball. The highlight came from Lachie Martens who scored in the second half, giving the boys a big boost. Hugh Matthews made great kicks from the wing, the back line made attempts to break Blayney’s brick-wall defence. Grenfell has two home games coming up, the first against Cootamundra, this Saturday July 23. This is a game not to be missed after an 18-all draw last time they met. Gates open 2.30pm, kick off at 3.15pm.
