I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all who supported me as the Lions Club candidate for the 2015 Henry Lawson Festival King/Queen Competition.
Firstly to the Lions Club of Grenfell who worked extremely hard and put in many hours to organise, advertise and realise the various activities and events that raised over $12,400. This money will be put towards local and Lions' projects and charities such as the construction of a shade-cloth over the children's play equipment in Railway Park.
This substantial amount was made possible by the generosity of the Grenfell local community and general public for which I am extremely grateful. Once again, our close-knit community has shown its support for the admirable work of the Lions movement and I was honoured to represent this worthy organisation with such wonderful, friendly members.
The 2015 Henry Lawson Festival, as always, was a well-organised event and once again showcased all that our wonderful town has to offer. This was due to the dedication of the Festival Committee and I would especially like to thank the 2015 King/Queen Competition co-ordinators, Michele Johnson and Tamara McMahon.
Their assistance and guidance throughout the duration of the competition was much appreciated by all candidates and ensured our experience was thoroughly enjoyable.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the hard work and effort of the other three candidates and their respective organisations: Ashlee representing the Henry Lawson High School, Mitchell representing the Grenfell MPS, and Steve representing the Grenfell Public School. These good-natured, friendly individuals made the experience positive and memorable, upholding the light-hearted nature of the King/Queen competition.
Congratulations to the 2015 Henry Lawson Festival King, Steve Kilby. May he rule his kingdom with wisdom and diligence! Long live the king! (at least until his abdication next year in June 2016).
Regards,
Grace Best
