It has come to my attention that a letter from Clr. Bill West, Mayor of Cowra has been read by the Mayor of Young, Clr John Walker, who has agreed that the delay in the decision on the tender process on the re-opening of the rail line known as the Cowra Rail lines is unacceptable.
I served as Mayor of Weddin Shire for a period of 14 years and also for many years as Chair of the Lachlan Regional Transport Committee Inc and totally agree with the strong sentiments of both the above mentioned Mayors.
I have taken many E mails and phone calls for concerned citizens from over the region managed by the five councils involved in the rail study.
All the callers are asking for action and I implore the candidates in the coming State Election to speak out on this very serious matter which is holding up development in the region.
In times past under different Governments we of the rail group have been frustrated by inaction on this matter which with the completion of the missing Maldon/Dombarton link will speed freight into a re-vamped Port Kembla producing a great result for all of NSW.
