Father Tom Thornton was the officiating priest with god parents Emma Duval and James Maxworthy.
Rhys’ proud grandparents are Colin and Veronica Davis of Grenfell and Richard Thomas of Orange and Catherine Maxworthy of Manildra.
Friends and family travelled from Wollongong, Newcastle, Molong and Orange to help celebrate the special event.
Sarah Walmsley had a weekend in Grenfell to visit with her father John Walmsley.
Sarah and John enjoyed an evening at Fettlers Restaurant on Saturday February 14.
Sarah is working as Operation and Administration Manager for OZ Homestay organising accommodation for International students.
Sarah has extensive experience in Student Services and Study Abroad programs. Her primary roles with Oz Homestay are managing all Study Tours; Parent Nominated Carer checks and compliance; as well as organising all home inspections and airport transfers.
Sarah loves travelling and meeting people from different cultural backgrounds. She has lived and worked in Ireland, England, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China and has travelled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, North America and Northern Africa.
Sarah’s mother and former Grenfellite, Elizabeth Walmsley is a Co-Owner; Managing Director of Oz Homestay has worked in the international education industry for over 20 years and brings a wealth of experience and care to their clients.
Elizabeth has travelled extensively throughout Asia, including living in China and Taiwan for 5 years. Some of the other countries she has visited many times include Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as visiting Brazil, UK and France. She has stayed in homestay situations herself in some of these countries so feels that she can ‘place herself’ into the shoes of most visitors to Australia for the first time.
Jeremy D’Ombrain celebrated Valentine’s Day with his two very special ladies – his beautiful wife Madeline and baby daughter Payten on Saturday evening at Fettlers Restaurant.
All residents of Grenfell are invited to celebrate Rotary International’s 110th birthday.
On Thursday and Friday February 25 and 26, the Rotary Club of Grenfell will have a memorabilia exhibition at the Grenfell Hub incorporating “Pit Stops” with Community Health Nurses.
The Community health nurses will be in attendance on both days from 10am-noon and again from 2pm-4pm.
Australian Hearing will also be in attendance conducting FREE hearing checks for residents of the community.
The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action. This year St Joseph’s Catholic Church Grenfell will be hosting the World Day of Prayer service at 7.30 pm on Friday March 6, followed by supper in the Parish Hall.
All residents of the Weddin Shire are warmly invited to attend. The featured country for 2015 is the Bahamas. Guest speaker Jenny Bell will be able to increase our knowledge of this island nation. Those attending might even like to dress in colourful clothing as the people of the Bahamas traditionally do. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together in prayer.
On Friday February 13 Marie Edwards and Rob and Lisa Bernard joined Courtney Edwards and Ian Bernard at dinner at Fettlers Restaurant, prior to Courtney and Ian’s move to Port Macquarie.
Courtney is off to Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie to study Graphic Design whilst Ian will be doing a personal training course.
Marie, Rob and Lisa wished Courtney and Ian well in their move from Grenfell.
Sue Armstrong celebrated an early birthday on Thursday at Fettlers Restaurant with her husband Justyn, and good friends Lesley and Jim Marden, Hugh Moffitt and Pene and Keith Starr.
Sue celebrated and was spoilt again on her actual birthday and Valentine’s Day and again at Pene and Keith Starr’s home during the weekend.
The Grenfell Tennis Club’s annual quiz night is set for Thursday March 5. Now is the time to organise your friends and get a table together.
Tables of eight are preferred, but if you are unable to muster up a full table, I am sure the Tennis Club will fit you in on a table. The fun night will be held at the Grenfell Country Club. Bookings may be made with Danny Joyce at the Westpac Bank
