Maria and Hannah, playing consistent tennis won a total of 16 games each. Two ladies won 14 games each. They were Esma Baker and Lynne Peterson, while just a further game behind, Leanne Livingstone won 13 games after good tennis.
Marlene Harris, filling in for Lyndell Rolls and Sally Mitton won 12 games each. Vicki McIntyre won 11 games for the round, while two players, Madeleine Griffiths and Judy Mitton won 10 games for the night. Belinda Day finished the night winning 8 games and Lisa Schaefer won 7 games.
The ladies played Round 6 of their Spring Competition on Wednesday night and results will appear in next weeks tennis news.
JAYKOB GAVIN WINS MEN’S TENNIS
The Men’s No 2 Division played Week 3 of their Pre-Christmas Night Competition on Tuesday and Jaykob Gavin, playing consistent tennis emerged the winner, winning a total of 23 games. His rounds were 8, 6 and 9 games. Finishing just a game behind, Rod Freudenstein won 22 games. Rod’s scores were 6, 8 and 8 games.
Steve Bowerman, filling in for Mick Doyle won 20 games with rounds of 6, 6 and 8 games, while two players, Daniel Edwards and Arnold Brown won 19 games each. Daniel’s rounds were 6, 10 and 3 games and Arnolds scores were 6, 6 and 7 games.
Graham Edwards managed to capture 18 games with rounds of 8, 4 and 6 games, while Hugh Moffitt won 15 games and John Walmsley won 8 games for the night.
The men will now play Week 4 next Tuesday night, November 18, weather permitting.
Several players took advantage of the pleasant conditions for social tennis last Thursday night, November 6. Social tennis is played on Thursday nights commencing at around 7.30 pm- all welcome.
CHRISTMAS GET TOGETHER
Tennis players and golfers and friends are reminded of the Christmas Get Together Dinner Dance evening to be held at the Country Club on Sunday night, December 7 commencing at 6.30 pm. Organisers of this social evening would like to see a good roll up for a most enjoyable dinner. However, for catering purposes, numbers are essential by Tuesday, December 2. Names may be lodged with Bill on 6343 1270 or Arnold on 6343 1482 or they may be left at the Country Club.
There will be several mini lucky door prizes, heads and tails competition and dancing. So please do make an effort and arrange a dinner party and come along and enjoy all the fun.
