Yep - you guessed it - it’s time for the Grenfell Dramatic Society’s annual pantomime that has become a tradition in the Grenfell events calendar.
Once again Darryl Knapp, despite being on the other side of the world in Portugal, has managed to create another fantastic piece of fantasy for the entertainment and enjoyment of all age groups.
This year’s offering is titled “Back Alley Barber and The 4 T Thieves”.
However this Alley Barber has no resemblence to the old story that most people would be acquainted with.
Our Alley Barber is in fact a hair barber who runs a very small barber shop in a back alley of a large town somewhere in fantasy land. He is very easy going and appears destined to never make any money out of his business, much to the disgust of his wife. He also has an assistant called Miss Boufant who is also easy going and only wants to be come a hairdresser. However Allley’s wife wants him to be rich and successful like her brother who manages to run a huge hairdressing salon in the main street of the city and is worth millions.
Alley’s wife nags him to become more like her brother but somehow he doesn’t see why he should as he is quite happy the way he is.
This is where “The Four T Thieves” enter the saga. They have a penchant for stealing anything beginning with “T” and thus the story gains momentum.
Alley and his wife are then invited to dinner at her brother’s mansion where ostentatious exhibitions of wealth are the norm and all of his children are very spoilt.
The “4 T Thieves” follow them to the the dinner and things then begin develop in to a farce from there on, especially when the police officers arrive on the scene to catch the thieves at the dinner.
Anyway - without giving any more of the plot away - it can be said that there will be five performances of this wonderful fairytale with some great performnaces from a host of wonderful actors, both large and small, at the Rose Street Little Theatre commencing on Saturday, November 8th with performances at 11am and 2pm and then again on Saturday November 15th with performances at11am and 2pm.
There will also be an extra performance on Monday night, November 10th at 7pm.
Tickets for all performances will be on sale at C.J. Anderson’s soon and all seats are $5.
