< LADIES
It was with much sadness that we learn’t of the passing of our patron and player, Jean Small, after a long illness . Jean was a terrific supporter of ladies golf and the Country Club, donating many trophies and prizes over the years. She also held many executive positions over her years of involvement with golf. She was farwelled at a service at the Presbyterian Church on 9th September, and we will all miss her smiling happy face, and her encouragement after we had had a bad round. Our sympathy is extended to George, Liandra and her extended family.
Our local ladies had a good day at WDLGA Finals Day last Thursday. Virginia Drogemuller was the sand greens champion as well as winner of the spoon event in Division 1. Val Forsyth was the runner up in the spoon event in Division 1. Well done ladies you did us all proud.
Grenfell lady golfers were represented at the WDLGA Four Ball Classic Final held at Narromine on Wednesday 20th August. Lorette Walmsley and Val Forsyth were the runners up, but because of commitments they had to forfeit the next round. But well done to you both.
The Grenfell Lady Golfers AGM will be held at the Grenfell Country Club on Wednesday 1st October at 7 for 7.30pm. It is hoped that all lady golfers could be there, so as to share the load over the next year.
It was decided at the monthly meeting to hold a Christmas raffle. The raffle will be a $100 open order to be spent at a local Grenfell business. It will be drawn on Sunday 21st December.
Next Weeks Programme
Saturday sees ladies playing in a stableford, while Sunday is also a stableford, and some ladies are travelling to Albert to play in their tournament, we wish them good luck and hope they play some winning golf. A stableford is set for play on Wednesday 1st October.

Val Forsyth was the “A” grade runner up in the 18 hole scratch event.
Megan Starr was the “B” grade scratch winner.
Sally Mitton was the “C” grade 18 hole stableford runner up.
Shirley Mawhinney was the nearest the pin on the day.
