Well there’s three happy bowlers this week, not for their bowls ability. Garry Pipe, John Dumbrell and Barry Jones won the jackpot last week and for their effort they picked up $134.00 each. Next week it goes back to $28.00. Last Wednesday saw just ten bowlers play, meat tray winners were B. Jones, J. Dumbrell, K. Brus and R. Chambers won the free game. Friday the weather was fine and that brought out a few more, well done to Barry Butler and Kerry Aston, they got 8 shots on one end, that was a big effort and Garry Pipe and John Grogan had no answer for that. John said his ankle was playing up and wanted to save himself for the disabled tournament in a few weeks, Chook winners were J.(Hopalong) Grogan, K. Reid, G.Dumbrell the free game went to A. Armstrong.
Club Triples will be on the way this weekend with a few games being played.
Nominations for the Club Fours, Mixed Fours and Mixed Pairs are now open, the sheet is on the board so grab a partner or two and put your name down, these events are for all bowlers you don’t have to be a great player just a player, so talk to your mates, put a team in you will enjoy the experience, remember all bowlers make a club.
Not a lot of success last weekend for teams that went and played at Caragabal and Quandialla President’s Day’s. Of the three teams that went to Caragabal they had no luck, but from all reports they had good day out spoiled by playing bowls. The team that went to Quandialla had the same result, but they also had a great day and all the players would like to thank both Quandialla and Caragabal Bowling clubs for hosting these days.
Anyone interested in playing at Parkes in a Triples tournament on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th of October. The entry forms are on the board or just ring up Parkes Bowling Club.

Our numbers were down too low on Friday night so the few players present decided to have a rest and get ready for the big day on Sunday - ie - the District Mixed Pairs at Grenfell on the Sunday - September 21st. But firstly, a short report on last Sunday at Young. Our defending team of Garth O’Brien, Nerida Feeney, E. Gluyas and Marie Rudd won three games out of the four that they contested which, however, was not good enough to win as Burraga won all four of their games and scored 62 points, a great effort for a club that has only a few players and no home club. In the District Mixed Pairs played on Sunday, 18 teams took part from all of the District clubs and the results will be published next week in the Record in our regular column.
Next Friday night is point score night only but some players are still away due to family matters, but we hope we will get enough players to have a game. We have accepted for two teams of mixed fours for the Junee Open Day on the 5th of October, so we are hoping players will be available for this event.
Up to 80 indoor bowlers from 20 districts descended on Young at the weekend for the Young Indoor Bowling Club open day at the Young Services Club on Sunday, September 14.
Attendees said the day wasn’t about “winning or losing”, just pure enjoyment.
The event attracted districts such as Cootamundra, Cowra, Grenfell, Junee, Bathurst, Forbes, Leeton, Griffith Yenda and even a small village called Burraga.
