The Muster quota of 100 riders has been booked out for several months now and if the FACEBOOK comments are any indication, all goes well for a week great riding, socialising and good fun.
The week starts off on Sunday evening with registrations and I.D tags, picking up merchandise ordered, catching up with friends from previous musters and of course a good old Bar B Que to set the scene.
The final job is to remind the riders of the Does and Don’ts of the Musters to ensure an enjoyable but safe week ahead.
On Monday we head out to Quondong with a pleasant stroll along the stock route to “Hopefield” where we enjoy the panoramic views of the Weddin Mtns, the Tyagong Valley and the Brundah area and Mt Yambira, returning via Quondong Rd and Homeward Bound area.
Day 2 is west through Companys Dam to Bogalong to “Wollombi” with more breathtaking views of the Weddins and lunch by the Bogolong Dam.
Day 3 is a bit of rest day the with ride around the significant point of interest of the town, followed by morning tea at the Railway Station.
This is followed by a lap of the Main Street to show off the Fancy Dress Costumes of riders for day.
A visit to the MPS about 9.30am is also planned.
Day 4 we travel north with Bill Menham towards Bald Hills, through “Yeronga” to take in the views of the Warraderry Valley and onto the property of Cliff Elvidge where we stop for Morning Tea, a short ride to Allan Knights’ property to climb the steep hill that overlooks the Forbes Rd and Ooma district.
Then it’s back to Cliff’s for lunch and a yarn with our host who has been a great supporter of the Muster since its inception.
Then it’s home via the yellow string road.
Day 5 and its east through Simpson Estate to Adelargo Rd and the Crown Lease for Morning Tea amongst the tall ironbarks and then a meander through the rocks and shady tracks until we come to lunch at Clare Park.
This where we realise that it is almost over for another year and the horses seem to know we are headed for home.
Of course we have a final dinner together with fun and frivolity and a chance to thank all the property owners, sponsors, volunteers and committee that have made this possible.
RESIDENTS OF GRENFELL ARE ADVISED THAT THE WEDDIN MOUNTAIN MUSTER WILL BE CONDUCTED BETWEEN 22 SEPTEMBER TO THE 26 SEPTEMBER 2014 AND DURING THAT TIME LARGE GROUPES OF HORSES WILL BE MOVING IN THE TOWN AREA.
