The Henry Lawson High School was the first school in our region to host a High School Kids Teaching Kids day. Almost 80 students came from St Matthews at Mudgee, Neville, Bathurst and Kelso High Schools at Bathurst and Parkes High School. There was a wide range of topics from Alpacas for sustainability, pH for profit, Sustainable Beef production, Hydroponics, to saving our marine environments.
The students had lots of innovative ways of presenting the information, using a wide range of techniques including rap songs, experiments, Alpaca handling and demonstrations, plays and interactive activities.
During the lunch session a careers expo was organised by Catie Guise from SEED at The Forbes LLS (Local Land Services).
There were 21 business experts who kindly came to share their expertise and advice on their professional work experiences. Students discovered the training and skills needed for a wide range of career paths.
The day was a huge success and the students learnt a lot from each other and the industry experts.
