Hi there my name is David Jackson, and I am a minister of religion with the Assembly of God Churches in Australia, along with my wife Kerry we are based in Gilgandra, as part of our work we look after churches in the outback of NSW on a recent trip we were confronted with the terrible effects that the continuing drought is having on this beautiful part of the country, on our return home we felt we had to try to help in some way, after speaking with the rural counsellors from these areas we started a hay drive, the goal is to collect as much hay as possible and deliver it to the most needy areas, to date, thanks to a lot of good people we have collected enough to fill a road train, a local farmer has volunteered his road train and his time, free of charge to deliver the hay to the Walgett area, we are working with the local rural counsellors, to ensure the hay goes to the most needy first, if all goes to plan the first road train will leave Gilgandra on Saturday, September 6, for Walgett.
