The pond was a tribute to the four former local doctors; Dr Ercole, Dr Quilter, Dr Fenwick and Dr Brown and the two local Chemists, Thomas Sinclair and Norman Edwards.
At the official opening Dr Brown was accompanied by two of his children.
Chairman of the Hospital Board Ken Hunter who was in his 16th term at the time, Maud McClelland, (Secretary) and Joan Nealon of the Hospital Auxiliary were also present on the memorable day.
On July 28 Joy and Julie Wood together with staff from across Western NSW Local Health Service travelled to Dubbo for an awards presentation.
Joy and Julie were both presented with a certificate indicating their 40 years service at the Grenfell District Hospital/MPS.
Chief Executive Officer Scott McLachlan of Western NSW Local Health Services presented the certificates and the girls each received an engraved wooden pen in a beautiful wooden case.
The twins’ sister Dale Scott travelled to Dubbo for the presentations.
Although the certificate was for 40 years of service, Joy commenced her employment at the hospital in January 1971 and Julie commenced the same year in March.
At this time their mother Charlotte Wood was the cook at hospital.
Congratulations girls on this great achievement.
