The Opening of the 2014 Grenfell Pre-School & Long Day Care Centre Art Show took place at the Grenfell Hub on Tuesday evening. A good crowd of parents, friends and children attended the informal opening ceremony. The exhibition was opened by school Director Sharon Grant who told the audience that this was the 4th year the show has been held and it just seems to grow every year. Sharon went on to say that the show itself grew out of an idea by staff who wanted to showcase the children’s work and invite other schools in the shire to participate. This year sees the Play Group and Family Day Care students joining in as well.

In her introduction Sharon went on to thank Laraine Bland Dean, Rochelle Cawthorne and Katie Ryan for all their help in making this year’s show a winner. Sharon also thanked the staff who she said get as much enjoyment out of the show as the children.
A special painting in the show was done with the help of an educator by an autistic child and it represents the Autism tree supporting families affected by autism.
Special guest and local artist Kathleen McCue officially opened the exhibition. Kathleen is also the owner of the art gallery Patina in Grenfell. Kathleen told the audience that painting has been her lifetime passion and she hoped that some of the children present might one day share that passion for art and all that it encases.
