Numerous studies have shown the early years are a critical period where the pathways to a child’s lifetime social, emotional and educational outcomes begin. Although early experiences do not determine children’s ongoing development, the patterns laid down early tend to be very persistent and some have lifelong consequences. Noting this funding is to be used to set up an interactive board for use in the centre.
More specifically the interactive board will be used in numeracy/literacy and other educational programs for the pre-school children to assist in making them school ready. This will have an immediate impact on the education of the fifty, three to five year old children currently enrolled. These programs will be undertaken with input from the local primary schools who have agreed to train our staff in the use of the interactive board.
The interactive board will also be used in many other ways such as at parent information nights making it easier to engage with the wider Grenfell Preschool and Long Day Care Centre community as well as our after school care children.
