Peter has over thirty years experience in rural practice located at Grenfell. Peter is a third generation lawyer to practice in Grenfell following his grandfather and father. He has a particular interest in Wills and succession planning, especially for farming families. He also has significant expertise in the area of property law and conveyancing ranging from residential and rural conveyancing through to complex commercial matters including Local Government issues. Peter also has an interest in the area of rural development, irrigation and water entitlements. As well, he is experienced in Crown Land leases, share farming and rural partnerships.
Peter has experience in criminal law and advocacy as well as in civil litigation. Peter is one of the few rural practitioners with high level expertise in the area of liquor licensing, an area of the law which is becoming increasingly complex and therefore increasingly specialised. Peter likes to visit hotels from time to time, only as he says, to understand the industry at the “coal face”.
Peter is a current member of the New South Wales Law Society Rural Issues Committee. In his work with the Rural Issues Committee Peter co-wrote a publication for the use of the profession titled “Document to Assist Rural Practitioners”.
Away from the office Peter is a rugby tragic and is a committed jogger having participated in at least fifteen City 2 Surf runs. Also Peter is very much involved in the Grenfell community being Chair of the Weddin Health Council and Weddin Business Development Committee, Rotary (a Paul Harris Fellow), and honorary Solicitor for practically every non-profit organisation in Grenfell.
Peter’s eldest daughter, Rachael is a solicitor from Gordon Garling Moffitt Young Office.
