Down memory lane with PROBUS

The third Monday of each month Grenfell and district Probus members gather at the Bowling Club for friendship, fellowship and fun.

The June meeting attracted seventy-two with twenty-seven apologies and three visitors.

A special visitor Rotarian Noel Causer from Wollongong District 9750 spoke of his volunteering in New Guinea on twelve separate occasions and once in East Timor assisting with the building of hospitals, schools and homes.

Being awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship with four sapphire pins and voted Volunteer of the Year in the Wollongong area, Noel has also walked the Kokoda Trail on two occasions the last when he was 81 years old.

Brian moved a vote of thanks.

President Dianna welcomed four new members and presented name badges to Frances Milne, Susan Taylor, Janice Hunter and Jacqueline Ryan.

Social Secretary, Rosalie recorded twelve birthdays.

The monthly cake winner was Coral.

Joint Tourist Officer Coral announced a mystery trip for July 24, $42 to be paid at the next meeting.

Unfortunately this is fully booked.

Morning tea provided but lunch will be at your own expense.

Leaving Loaders at 7.30 sharp.

The trip to Griffith August 27 to 29 is fully booked as is Dubbo on October 9.

Bathurst on October 27 and the Premiers Concert in Sydney on December 4 each have a few seats available - contact Ruth or Coral.

Sally introduced Lindsay Ballard our guest speaker, now a local living here in Grenfell with his wife Shirley ne Brown.

After an interesting address and questions answered Elaine Pereira made a presentation and expressed thanks.

Joan does a great job as Morning Tea Coordinator always arriving early o prepare the urns, tea, coffee and bickies for Duty Members to serve at about 11am once the business section of the meeting has been completed.
