Massive tennis win by Bowerman and Schaefer

Round 3 of the Men’s No 2 Winter Night Tennis Competition resulted in a massive win by Steve Bowerman and Warren Schaefer on Tuesday night.

In nippy conditions, Steve and Warren won 32 games for the round. They won all their sets 5/3, 8/0, 7/1, 6/2, 6/2.

A grand performance and well played men.

Two pairs finished the night winning the good score of 23 games. They were Stuart McKellar and Anthony Wilson and Charles Harvey and Hugh Moffitt.

Stuart and Anthony won their first two sets in devastating form 8/0, 8/0, but fell by the wayside in the last three sets to go down 2/6, 2/6, 3/5, Charles and Hugh played more consistent tennis after losing their first set 3/5 to score 4/4, 7/1, 4/4, 5/3.

Just a further game behind these two pairs were Grant Fisher and Murray Mitton, winning 22.

They also played consistent tennis to win 5/3, 4/4, 6/2, 5/3, however they went down 2/6 in the last.

Rod Freudenstein and Ken Norrie battled away in their sets to win a total of 14 games.

Round 4 of the competition will be played next Tuesday night, June 5, weather permitting.

Round 4 of the Intertown Tennis Competition is set down for Sunday, June 17 when Forbes plays Grenfell/Cowra and West Wyalong v Temora.

Keep in mind that on Sunday, July 22 the Grenfell Junior Development Series Tournament will be held.

Tennis players are reminded that social play is held on Thursday afternoon commencing at around 1.45 pm.

Last week’s play was a washout by the very welcomed rain.
