Australian Rules Football match in Grenfell

Grenfell is like many rural communities and can be compared to an Australian Rules Football match – 30,000 people who need the exercise watch 36 players who do not.

The “same old faces” syndrome is a challenge facing all rural communities and the Weddin Development Committee is meeting on Thursday 17 May at 6.00pm at the Grenfell Bowling Club to encourage community participation in the future development of Grenfell and the Weddin Shire.

Positive and progressive thinking is what is required, and the committee is looking to the people of Grenfell for their ideas as to how we achieve the “We Can Do It” approach for our town.

The council have asked for feedback on a number of issues for the Open Day/Gold Fest Festival in October. These include:

* Part/closure of Main Street to traffic

* Something more than the current vouchers to involve businesses

* Hours for Gold Fest to operate

* Competitions for businesses – window dressing/best costumed business person

The committee is trying to compile a database of email addresses for ease of communication and would appreciate hearing from you if would like to be kept informed of what is happening. You can contact Peter Moffitt – peter.moffitt@ggmlawyers.com.au Denise Galvin – terryndenise@bigpond.com or Tim Wood mannoo@activ8.net.au

We look forward to seeing you Thursday 17 May at 6.00pm at the Bowling Club for a short meeting. Otherwise, the committee can be contacted at the above email addresses.
