The Men’s No. 2 Pre-Christmas Night Tennis Competition will stall for 3 weeks to allow those players who are farmers to carry out harvesting of the 2009 grain crop.
The tennis comp will resume on Tuesday night, December 1st, when round 3 will be played.
Last Tuesday night round 2 was played in warm conditions.
This round resulted in a very big score by Steven Bowerman and Warren Schaefer, winning 26 games. Steve was a fill-in for Ian Jones, while Warren was a replacement for Paul Tognetti, who is nursing an injured back.
Steven and Warren won their sets 7/1, 8/0. 7/1 and levelled the score 4/4 in their last set against Stuart McKellar and Hugh Moffitt.
Stuart and Hugh won 19 games for the round. Their sets were 6/2, 6/2, 3/5, 4/4.
Next best pair were Charles Harvey and Arnold Brown who won 14 games.
Their sets were 1/7, 4/4, 5/3, 4/4. Winning 11 games for the night were Rod Freudenstein and John Walmesly and Anthony Wilson and Murray Mitton won 10 games, after not having the best of luck.
Anthony was filling in for Alan Neville.
SOCIAL TENNIS AT NIGHT
Now that the hot weather has arrived, social tennis at the centre is being played on Thursday night instead of the afternoons.
Play commences at 7.30pm and it is hoped that those Tennis Players who were unable to play during the day will make a special effort to join in for a game on Thursday night. You are all most welcome.
