Stuart McKellar and Paul Tognetti have one the Mens No 2 Pre-Christmas Night Tennis Competition. The final round was played on Tuesday night and although Stuart and Paul did not play, their fill-ins were more than capable throughout the evening. Steve Bowerman played for Stuart while Anthony Wilson filled in for Paul.

Stuart in the “A” group went into the last round leading with 157 games, just 5 games ahead of Ian (Dooley) Jones on 152. Stuarts lead was extended by 8 games when Steve and Paul won 19 games in the final round and Ian and his partner for the night, Arnold Brown won 16 games. Stuarts total games won for the ten rounds was 176, Ian won 168, Charles Harvey won 153, Alan Neville 152 games and Rod Freudenstein 150 games.

Paul Tognetti in the “B” group won 185 games, HUGH moffitt 172, Arnold BROWN 164, murray MITTON 161 AND john Walmsley 117 games.

Steve Bowerman and Anthony Wilson were the winners of the last round in tuesday night with 19 games. Their sets were 5/3, 6/2, 3/5, 5/3. Just a game behind the winning pair were Rod Freudenstein and Hugh Moffit, their sets were 3/5, 6/2, 5/3, 4/4.

Charles HArvey and Murray Mitton won 17 games and their sets were 3/5, 4/4, 6/2, 4/4 and a further game behind were Ian Jones and Arnold Brown and Alan Neville and Maurice Payne won 10 games, Maurice was a fill in for John Walmsley.

The final round of the Pre-Christmas Competition completed another very successful comp for the Men’s No 2 group who are now all ready to commence their Summer Night Competition next Tuesday night, February 9.
