Last Saturday there was an excellent field of 34 players for the 4BBB Stableford, and there were some very good scores recorded.
Grant Simpson and Phil Barr combined well to take out the competition in great style finishing with the grand score of 50 points. Well done fellas.
Second place went to our junior pair of Josh Hewen and Steve Walker who finished with 47 points. Third place was shared by Steven Ryder and Paul Lynch, and Jamie Logan and Barry Bradtke with both pairs scoring 46 points.
Congratulations to Josh Hewen who lost three strokes off his handicap.
Phillip Barr was NTP and the Ball Competition went to 45 points plus D and G Fanning.
There was one match played in conjunction with this competition between P Barr and G Simpson against G Oliver and m Crutcher.
Grant and Philip had a day out as they also won the match 4-3. This now puts them into the semi-finals, the draw for which is D Fanning and G Fanning versus B Bradtke and J Logan.
G Simpson and P Barr versus D and J Hocking. These matches are to be played either on or before August 17.
On Sunday we played for the Fruit Market Trophy.
Results were very close with Brian Brown emerging winner with 39 points on count back from P Barr to take home the trophy. Chris Fletcher was runner up on 37 points, while Peter Seymour and Cec Aston shared third place with 35 points each to their credit Philip won the B Grade trophy.
Brian was also NTP, and balls went to 35 points.
Three local mixed pairs traveled to Trundle last Sunday to compete in the finals of the 4BBB Mixed Keno Stableford. They were Steven and Jane Ryder, Daniel Fanning and Jan Myers and Rob Coleman and Lorette Walmsley.
Although they were not able to win the event they finished with a very competitive scores of 49, 48 and 44 points respectively.
The eventual winners were for Dubbo who finished with the extremely good score of 54 points.
On Wednesday May 28 fifteen of our regular golfers played a Stableford event with some very close results.
Rob Coleman won on a count back from Peter Harris with 37 points. Second place was also shared with Des McKellar and Max Barr both finishing on 36 points.
Our veteran Jack Grant filled third place with 34 points.
The Ball Competition went to Rob, Peter, Des, Max, Jack and Steve.
Des McKellar was NTP.
The social golfers were again out in force with 15 starters.
Leo Hockings was the winner of the day and David Walsh runner up. David also won the putting event.
The longest drive went to Steve Mitton, and Aub Beasley was NTP.
Tomorrow Col Monger is starter for a Stroke event.
On Sunday a Stableford is scheduled with C Aston starter.
As Monday is a holiday there will be a Stableford competition for anyone wishing to have a game of golf. Visitors will be made welcome. Starting time will be 12.30 – 1pm.
The members Foursomes are coming up on the weekend of June 14 and 15.
So get your nominations in now and don’t miss out.
A nomination sheet is on the board, and a time draw will be made, 18 holes will be played each day.
