At the public meeting held in Grenfell on 5 November over the withdrawal of VMO services from the Grenfell Hospital, the following motion was moved from the floor and carried without dissent:-
“That this meeting pass a vote of “no confidence” in GWAHS, to apply if the matter has not been resolved within one week, and it then be conveyed to the Minister for Health with a request that she intervene.”
One week has now passed and this dispute has still not been settled. This means that the motion of no confidence in Greater Western Area Health Service has now come into effect.
Council has also acted to contact the Minister with a request that she personally intervene to get the matter resolved.
In the meantime Council and the Weddin Health Council have continued to pressure Greater Western Area Health Service and have supported a suggestion that a process of formal mediation be undertaken to try to resolve the dispute on an amicable basis.
Council will continue to encourage both parties to work towards a speedy resolution for the benefit of the local community and the restoration of local health services.
