Demographically Grenfell and the surrounding shire area are only a relatively small rural community.
Even so, a population of this dimension must have a quantity of unused and unwanted spectactles (that is, eyeglasses) in its procession.
If the Grenfell Lions Club could acquire these commodities, be assured, they would be put to invaluable use.
One of Lions Australia’s main projects is the provision of recycled and refurbished spectactles to the underdeveloped countries (that is, Third World societies) of South East Asia and the Pacific region.
The peoples of these locations definitely require all forms of medical assistance and the provision of seeing/reading aids to them is certainly one of these.
If you have glasses at home or in the workshop or office that are not being utilized, please put them to a beneficial use.
Make contact with the Grenfell Lions Club (for example, Hon Secretary Terry Carroll, phone 6343 1574) and it will quickly inform you of How and Where to make your spectactles deposit (Suggestion: The Grenfell HAAC facility would more than likely be appropriate: label Lions).
Wouldn’t you like to help someone in need?
It would truly make you feel good and be most gratifying.
It’s there to be used.
Spread the word. The Lions Club would communal amenity located at the old Railway Station is there for everyone to use and enjoy.
There is a modern barbecue facility, a toilet block (clean), and parkland available.
It is not there to look at, it is there to be fully utilized.
In addition, it is not an illogical site for an overnight stopover in a caravan or similar apparatus.
As was suggested earlier, please spread the word.
ADDITION OF A
FARMERS’ MARKET?
The local Lions Club is considering the possibility of adding a Farmers’ Market to its existing market day format on the fourth Sunday of March, 2012.
The main concern with this concept is the availability of farm produce and fresh foodstuff providers.
Is there anyone out there who could assist with this?
If so, please let the Grenfell Lions Club know as soon as you possible can.
Your assistance would be very much appreciated by Lions and hopefully, the many prospective buyers.
Thank you
Yours in Lions
We are always open for fresh ideas.
