At a meeting held a the Bowling Club on Monday May 12 of the Grenfell Combined Charities it was resolved that due to lack of support the committee be disbanded.
The organisation was formed in 1982 to raise money by holding weekly bingo afternoons.
Many thousands of dollars have been distributed to local recipients – boy scouts association, St Joseph’s P and F, senior citizens committee, frail aged committee and girl guides association.
Over the years support for the bingo afternoons has gradually dropped off and in spite of committee efforts numbers continued to decrease until it was no longer viable.
The game was held at various venues but the last few years the Bowling Club made their facilities available.
Special mention is made of Gloria Rohan who was a foundation member and continued her interest up to present time.
Also worthy of mention is Bruce Clifford has audited the books every year since 1985.
Others have given over 20 years service.
The few regular players are going to miss their happy Monday afternoons after all the years together.
